Intimate surgery
Labiaplasty and vaginoplasty: correcting changes in shape that cause discomfort.
Intimate surgery corrects the shape and function of the female genital area. The reason for seeking it is often daily discomfort, not appearance: chafing, pain, and discomfort in sport and tight clothing. Consultations on this subject are fully confidential.
What it corrects
- Hypertrophy of the labia minora: labia that are large or uneven
- Widening of the vagina after childbirth
- Scars and deformity left by tears during childbirth
Techniques
- Labiaplasty: reducing the labia minora and restoring symmetry
- Vaginoplasty: narrowing the vagina and restoring muscle support
- Fat grafting to the labia majora: returning lost volume with your own fat
Operation and recovery
Labiaplasty takes about an hour under local anaesthesia; vaginoplasty is usually done under general or spinal anaesthesia. Work can be resumed within a week. Exercise, swimming and intercourse are restricted for four to six weeks. The stitches dissolve on their own.
