Arm, thigh and body lift

Removing the excess skin left on the arms, thighs and waist after weight loss.

After major weight loss, or with age, skin loses its elasticity and sags. The fat may be gone, but exercise does not tighten excess skin. Arm, thigh and body lift operations remove that skin and restore the contour.

What it corrects

  • Sagging skin of the upper arms
  • Loose skin and chafing on the inner thighs
  • Sagging skin of the waist and buttocks
  • Excess skin in several areas of the body after weight loss

Techniques

  • Arm lift (brachioplasty): excess skin is removed from the armpit to the elbow
  • Thigh lift: the inner thigh is tightened
  • Belt lipectomy: the waist and upper buttocks are lifted all the way round
  • Body lift: the abdomen, waist, buttocks and thighs are tightened in one operation

Operation and recovery

These operations are done under general anaesthesia and take two to five hours. The scar is long but is planned where clothing hides it. A compression garment is worn for six weeks. Surgery is recommended once your weight has been stable for at least six months.
